TO ASSIST IN THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN ATTENDING DOWNLAND SCHOOL, DOWNLANDS, DEVIZES IN THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE BY PROVINDING (A) EDUCATIONAL AMENITIES WHICH WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BY PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY AND (B) FACILITIES FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION SO AS TH DEVELOP THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL CAPACITIES OF SUCH CHILDREN THAT THEY MAY GROW TO FULL MATURITY BOTH AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS RESPONSIBLE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY AND THAT THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE BY IMPROVED.
