Activities - how the charity spends its money
BIOS UK Associates raises funds to support the research and education programmes at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. The research encompasses all areas of oceanography, from macro climate studies to microscopic genetic studies. The UK Associates make grants to exceptional UK students who wish to study at BIOS in Bermuda, in a range of different academic programme options.

FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION BY THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS TO BE AWARDED TO SCIENTISTS AND OTHER PERSONS RESIDENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM WHOM THE TRUSTEES MAY IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION SELECT TO ENABLE THEM TO STUDY AND CARRY OUT RESEARCH AT THE BERMUDA BIOLOGICAL STATION FOR RESEARCH. 2. THE PROMOTION AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF RESEARCH INTO AND THE STUDY OF MARINE, OCEANOGRAPHIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES INCLUDING WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING RESEARCH INTO AND THE STUDY AQUACULTURE MARINE ECOLOGY AND ZOOLOGY AND MARINE AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.
