The charity exists to promote interest in the work of the writer Charles Williams (1886-1945). He was a poet, novelist, playwright, theologian and historian, and a friend of T. S. Eliot and CS. Lewis among others. The Society issues a quarterly magazine, holds conferences in Oxford and London, maintains a reference and a lending library, and responds to requests for information.
