Activities - how the charity spends its money
The Trust was established by deed in 1987 as part of the settlement of a new scheme for the Sudbury Common Lands Charity. The trustees are elected by The Freement of Sudbury in quinqueniel meeting. The Trust is able to make grants to deserving Freemen of Sudbury or Widows of Freemen. The Trust makes donations to support deserving projects in the town of Sudbury.

Charitable objects
(A) TO ASSIST CASES OF HARDSHIP AMONG FREEMEN AND FAMILIES OF FREEMEN WHO ARE IN NECESSITOUS CIRCUMSTANCES; (B) TO PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT IN LIFE OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BY PROMOTING THEIR TRAINING IN OCCUPATIONS WHICH WILL RENDER THEM ELIGIBLE TO BECOME FREEMEN OF SUDBURY; (C) TO PROMOTE CHARITABLE PURPOSES WHICH ARE CONVERSANT WITH THE FREEMAN'S OATH TO BE AIDING AND ASSISTING UNTO THE TOWN MAYOR AND JUSTICES OF THE TOWN OF SUDBURY, THE CONSTABLES, SERGEANTS AT MACE AND ALL OTHER THE QUEEN'S OFFICERS AND MINISTERS OF THE TOWN, IN THE DUE ECECUTION OF JUSTICE AND PERFORMANCE OF HER MAJESTY'S SERVICE AND ALSO TO UPHOLD, SUPPORT, MAINTAIN AND DEFEND ALL THE GOOD AND LAWFUL RIGHTS, PRIVILEGES, CUSTOMS, DECREES, BYELAWS, ORDERS AND HEREDITAMENTS OF AND BELONGING TO THE TOWN; (D) TO PROMOTE SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES AS MAY BE OF BENEFIT TO THE TOWN OR COMMUNITY OF SUDBURY.
