THE INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL EXCHANGE WAS FOUNDED IN 1949. THE FIRST PRESIDENT WAS THE LATE COUNTESS MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA. IT WAS A NON-POLITICAL AND NON-PROFIT MAKING ORGANISATION WITH NO ENDOWMENT, THE MAIN OBJECT WAS TO PROMOTE UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN DIFFERENT CULTURES. THE PRESENT CULTURAL EXCHANGE WAS NEWLY FORMED IN 1987 AND IS A COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE WITH CHARITABLE STATUS.
