TO ASSIST IN THE CONSERVATION OF THE WORLD'S FORESTS AND TO RELIEVE POVERTY BY PROMOTING THE USE OF SOLAR ENERGY AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO WOOD FUEL IN COUNTRIES SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS OF DEFORESTAION: 2. TO RELIEVE POVERTY AND SICKNESS BY THE ALLEVIATION OF FOOD SHORTAGE BY PROMOTING THE USE OF SOLAR ENERGY TO POWER DESALINATION PLANTS FOR IRRIGATION PURPOSES IN AREAS WHERE NO OR INSUFFICIENT FRESH WATER IS AVAILABLE; 3. TO PROTECT THE HEALTH OF THE POPULATION BY RENDERING ASSISTANCE TO THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION'S IMMUNIZATION PROGRAMME BY DEVELOPING AND PROMOTING THE USE OF SOLAR-POWERED REFRIGERATORS AND DEEP-FREEZERS FOR STORAGE OF VACCINES IN AREAS WHERE NO ELECTRICITY IS AVAILABLE.
