THE CHARITABLE OBJECT FOR WHICH THE LIBRARY IS ESTABLISHED IS THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION, LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE BY THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE IN LONDON OF A LIBRARY EMBRACING THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES FOR ALL PERSONS DESIRING TO MAKE A BONA FIDE USE THEREOF FOR THE SAID CHARITABLE OBJECT SUBJECT ONLY TO THE PAYMENT OF SUCH SUMS (IF ANY) BY WAY OF FEES AND OTHER CHARGES AS ARE NECESSARY TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSE OF THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE THEREOF.
