Charitable objects

(1) LEWISHAM SHOPMOBILITY SCHEME EXISTS FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES ONLY, TO PROMOTE THE WELFARE AND INDEPENDENCE AND MOBILITY OF DISABLED PERSONS IN LEWISHAM AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY PROVIDING PERSONAL ASSISTANCE AND WHEELCHAIRS-BOTH BATTERY DRIVEN AND MANUAL, BATTERY DRIVEN SCOOTERS AND OTHER SIMILAR EQUIPMENT FOR USE IN THE SHOPPING CENTRE AND PEDESTRIANISED AREA OF LEWISHAM TOWN CENTRE. THIS SERVICE SHALL BE OFFERED WITH REGARD TO THE USERS INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND IN PURSUIT OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES. (11) THE MEANING OF "DISABLED PEOPLE" IS HERE TAKEN TO BE PEOPLE WHO ARE PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY OR SENSORILY INCAPACITATED TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY.
