TO PROMOTE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AND FOR THE BETTER PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC ORDER, THE PROVISION OF A MEDIATION SERVICE FOR PERSONS, ORGANISATIONS, AUTHORITIES OR GROUPS IN THE AREA COVERED BY MEDWAY UNITARY AUTHORITY AND KENT COUNTY COUNCIL ("THE AREA OF BENEFIT"), INVOLVED IN OR LIKELY TO BECOME INVOLVED IN DISPUTE OR INTER-PERSONAL CONFLICT WHERE THAT DISPUTE OR CONFLICT RESULTS FROM OR MAY LEAD TO ACTS OF NUISANCE, VANDALISM, RACIAL ABUSE, UNLAWFUL ACTIVITY, BREACH OF THE PEACE OR BREAKDOWN OF PUBLIC ORDER; AND TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SAID AREA IN THE PURPOSES AND METHODS OF MEDIATION AND, IN PARTICULAR, IN THE NATURE AND CAUSES OF SUCH DISPUTES OR CONFLICTS.
