TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY PROMOTING THE STUDY OF PROPER-NAMES, PRIMARILY THE PLACE- AND PERSONAL-NAMES OF BRITAIN AND IRELAND, AND TO PROVIDE A SOURCE OF AUTHORITATIVE ADVICE ON ALL MATTERS CONCERNING SUCH NAMES.
