TO PRESERVE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE HISTORICAL, AND UNIQUE ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES OF THE 1760 ROYAL GUNPOWDER MAGAZINE NO 5 SITUATED AT PURFLEET IN THE COUNTY OF ESSEX. TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN ALL MATERS RELATING TO THE PROTECTION OF THE RIVER THAMES AND THE DEFENCE OF THE REALM BY THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE OF A COLLECTION OF ITEMS OF HISTORIC VALUE BOTH LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY.
