Activities - how the charity spends its money
In support of Romanian ostomy patients, their carers, nursing and medical staff who attend to them, the current area of development is to ensure that the specialist stoma care nurses are fully trained to support ostomy patients' needs. During the last 3 years the ROPSF UK team have been endeavouring to establish a short high level nurse training regime to teach basic and advance skills.

Charitable objects
1. TO GIVE ASSISTANCE TO THOSE PEOPLE IN ROMANIA, INCLUDING DOCTORS, NURSES AND CARERS WHO ARE HELPING POTENTIAL PATIENTS AND EXISTING PATIENTS TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH CANCER OF THE COLON OR RECTUM, ULCERATIVE COLITIS, CROHN'S DISEASE, BLADDER DISEASE OR OTHER SIMILAR LIFE THREATENING ILLNESSES THAT LEAD, THROUGH SURGICAL TECHNIQUES, TO THE REMOVAL OF ALL OR PART OF THE COLON OR ILEUM, OR BY URINARY DIVERSION, AND THE FORMATION OF A STOMA BY A) SETTING UP (OR STRENGTHENING) PATIENT SUPPORT GROUPS FOR OSTOMATES IN KEY MEDICAL CENTRES AND OTHER LOCATIONS ACROSS ROMANIA, IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF SUCH PATIENTS FOLLOWING OSTOMY SURGERY B) IMPROVING THE AVAILABILITY OF REQUISITE QUALITY OSTOMY APPLIANCES FOR ALL OSTOMY PATIENTS 2. TO DEVELOP AND ESTABLISH A CENTRAL SECRETARIAT TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL GROUPS ACROSS ROMANIA 3. TO FACILITATE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE FOR RESEARCH AND TRAINING INTO BOWEL DISEASE AND SCREENING, TO INCLUDE THE INTERCHANGE OF SURGICAL AND MEDICAL EXPERTISE BETWEEN THE UK AND OTHER EU COUNTRIES AND ROMANIA
