DECLARATION OF TRUST DATED 8TH APRIL 2002
Charitable objects
THE TRUSTEES SHALL HOLD THE TRUST FUND AND ITS INCOME UPON TRUST TO APPLY THEM FOR THE OBJECT OF PROMOTING THE JEWISH RELIGION BY ALL OR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MEANS: 1) THE MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE BUILDING AT UXBRIDGE ROAD KINGSTON UPON THAMES (OR ANY REPLACEMENT BUILDING) OWNED BY THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF WHICH THE KINGSTON SURBITON & DISTRICT SYNAGOGUE IS AN AFFILIATED MEMBER ("THE SYNAGOGUE") AS THE SYNAGOGUE OF THE LOCAL JEWISH COMMUNITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF BEING A PLACE OF WORSHIP AND FOR THE DUE PERFORMANCE OF RITES SUCH AS MARRIAGE BARMITZVAH OR BATMITZVAH ACCORDING TO PRINCIPLES OF THE JEWISH RELIGION AND FOR FURTHERING THE RELIGIOUS AND OTHER CHARITABLE WORK OF THE LOCAL JEWISH COMMUNITY. 2) TO APPOINT AND THEN PROVIDE THE STIPEND OF THE RABBI OF THE SYNAGOGUE AND TO DISCHARGE HIS PROPER EXPENSES AND SUPERANNUATION CONTRIBUTIONS AND TO PAY SUCH OTHER MINISTERS PART TIME FOR THE CONDUCT OF SERVICES AND THE PERFORMANCE OF RITES AS SHALL BE APPROPRIATE TO THE SIZE AND RESOURCES OF THE LOCAL JEWISH COMMUNITY. 3) THE MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PROPERTY AT VILLIERS ROAD SURBITON (OR ANY REPLACEMENT PROPERTY) OWNED BY THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE AS THE RESIDENCE OF THE RABBI OF THE SYNAGOGUE. 4) THE TEACHING AND EDUCATION OF YOUNG MEMBERS OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN THE DOCTRINES AND PRACTICES OF THE JEWISH RELIGION BY MEANS OF SUNDAY SCHOOLS AND OTHERWISE AND TO EMPLOY AND PAY PART TIME TEACHERS FOR THAT PURPOSE. 5) THE PROMOTION FOSTERING AND ADVANCEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE JEWISH RELIGION
