Charitable objects
FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT WITHIN THE AREA OF BERWICK-UPON-TWEED, SPITTAL, TWEEDMOUTH, ORD, SCREMERSTON, AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES WITH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTS: A. TO RELIEVE PERSONS WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS BY REASON OF THEIR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES. B. TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF HOUSING ACCOMMODATION FOR PERSONS IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, POVERTY, OR DISTRESS, INCLUDING THOSE SUFFERING FROM PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DISABILITIES, ON TERMS APPROPRIATE TO THEIR MEANS. C. TO RELIEVE SICKNESS AND POVERTY. D. TO PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION AND LEARNING, INCLUDING TRAINING IN SKILLS RELEVANT TO SECURING EMPLOYMENT. E. TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN THE ARTS. F. TO PROVIDE FACILITIES FOR PUBLIC RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE. G. PROVIDED THAT IN FURTHERANCE OF ALL OR ANY OF THE ABOVE OBJECTS THE COMPANY SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO PROMOTE PROVIDE OR ASSIST ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE AREA REFERRED TO ABOVE WHERE IT IS OF THE OPINION THAT TO DO SO WILL BENEFIT THE INHABITANTS OF THE SAID AREA. THROUGHOUT THIS MEMORANDUM 'CHARITABLE' MEANS CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES PROVIDED THAT IT WILL NOT INCLUDE ANY PURPOSE WHICH IS NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005. FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, THE SYSTEM OF LAW GOVERNING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE CHARITY IS THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES.
