MEMORANDUM AND ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION INCORPORATED 22 MARCH 2004 AS AMENDED BY SPECIAL RESOLUTION DATED 2 AUGUST 2005.
Charitable objects
1) TO PROMOTE THE BENEFITS OF THE INHABITANTS OF LONDON AND IN PARTICULAR PERSONS OF EAST AFRICAN ORIGIN, BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID INHABITANTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATIONS WITH THE OBJECTS OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE OF THE SAID INHABITANTS. 2) TO ESTABLISH OR SECURE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMMUNITY CENTRE (HEREINAFTER CALLED "THE CENTRE") AND TO MAINTAIN AND MANAGE THE SAME (WHETHER ALONE OR IN CO-OPERATION WITH ANY LOCAL AUTHORITY OR PERSON OR BODY) IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE OBJECTS; 3) TO RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AMONGST YOUNG SOMALIS AND MAJORITY ETHNIC COMMUNITIES LIVING IN THE UK AND INTERNATIONALLY THROUGH FINANCIAL SUPPORT, ADVICE AND TRAINING. 4) TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF BENEFICIARIES WHO ARE IN DANGER OF NUTRITIONAL AND OTHER SPECIFIC AFRO CENTRIC ILLNESS SO THAT THEY MAY GROW TO FULL MATURITY AS INDIVIDUALS AND MEMBERS OF SOCIETY AND THAT THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE MAY BE IMPROVED; 5) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF SOMALIS PEOPLE AND OTHER EAST AFRICAN ORIGINS, IN PARTICULAR THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EMPLOYMENT TRAINING, SO AS TO ADVANCE THEM IN LIFE AND ASSIST THEM TO ADAPT WITHIN A NEW COMMUNITY; AND 6) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL ABOUT ETHNIC MINORITY GROUPS, IN PARTICULAR BY PROMOTING AND DEVELOPING BETTER RELATIONS BETWEEN PARENTS, PUPILS AND SCHOOL TEACHERS.
