Purpose: maintain Collection at Ashridge with information/catalogue for public benefit, open in August for guided tours by appointment. Autumn 2010 Objectives: increase public awareness by detailed website; and circulation of list/photos by Courtauld Photographic Survey to subscribers, 40 British and International art museums/libraries, also available to researchers at CPS and Witt Library.

Charitable objects
THE TRUSTEES SHALL HOLD THE CAPITAL AND INCOME OF THE TRUST FUND UPON TRUST TO APPLY THE INCOME, AND ALL OR SUCH PART OR PARTS OF THE CAPITAL, AT SUCH TIME OR TIMES AND IN SUCH MANNER AS THE TRUSTEES MAY IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION THINK FIT FOR THE FOLLOWING OBJECTS (THE 'OBJECTS'): (A) TO PRESERVE AND DISPLAY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC WORKS OF ART AND OTHER ITEMS THAT ARE OF ARTISTIC, HISTORICAL OR SOCIOLOGICAL INTEREST, INCLUDING IN PARTICULAR SUCH OF THOSE ITEMS THAT ARE SPECIFIED IN THE SECOND SCHEDULE AS MAY BE ADDED TO THE TRUST FUND (ALL SUCH ITEMS SHALL BE REFERRED TO IN THIS CLAUSE AS THE 'COLLECTION'); (B) TO ORGANISE THE PROVISION OF PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE COLLECTION AND TO ENCOURAGE AND ASSIST SUCH PUBLIC ACCESS; AND (C) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC, PARTICULARLY BY PROMOTING THE STUDY OF THE COLLECTION BY THE PUBLIC AND ENCOURAGING THE INCREASE OF THEIR UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF MATTERS OF HISTORIC, ARTISTIC AND SOCIOLOGICAL INTEREST CONNECTED WITH THE COLLECTION. 3.2 THE TRUSTEES MAY IN THEIR DISCRETION, FOR THE PERIOD OF 21 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THIS DEED, INSTEAD OF APPLYING THE INCOME OF THE CHARITY IN ANY YEAR, ACCUMULATE ALL OR ANY PART OF SUCH INCOME AT COMPOUND INTEREST BY INVESTING THE SAME, AND THE RESULTING INCOME, IN ANY INVESTMENTS AUTHORISED BY THIS DEED OR BY LAW AS AN ACCRETION TO AND AS PART OF THE CAPITAL OF THE CHARITY, WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THEIR RIGHT TO APPLY THE WHOLE OR ANY PART OF SUCH ACCUMULATED INCOME IN ANY SUBSEQUENT YEAR AS IF THE SAME WERE INCOME OF THE CHARITY ARISING IN THE THEN CURRENT YEAR.
