Charitable objects
TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY ASSISTING IN THE PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF DAWS TWINE WORKS, WEST COKER, SOMERSET. THIS WILL BE ACHIEVED BY RECREATING THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT THROUGH RESTORATION OF MACHINERY AND EXPLANATORY EXHIBITS. COLLECT, COLLATE, RESEARCH AND STORE MATERIAL RELATING TO THE GROWING OF FLAX AND HEMP AND HOW THIS WAS USED IN THE ROPE , SAIL AND NETTING INDUSTRY OF WEST. EAST AND NORTH COKER. THE RESEARCH AND EXHIBITS WILL FOCUS IN THE INDUSTRY IN SOUTH SOMERSET AND DORSET AREA BUT ALSO HOW IT AFFECTED THE GLOBAL TRADE AND MARKETS. THIS WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT UNDER THE AUSPICES OF WEST COKER PARISH COUNCIL, THE VILLAGES OF WEST. EAST AND NORTH COKER, WEST COKER PRIMARY SCHOOL AND SOUTH SOMERSET DISTRICT COUNCIL. EXHIBITS WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
