The Society serves the religious, social and cultural needs of the local Muslim population living and working in the Lewsey Farm and surrounding areas of Luton in Bedfordshire. The Society is responsible for the administration of Zakariya Masjid and Madresa-e-Furqaniah and works closely with other local organisations and faith groups for improvements to facilities and services in the community.

Charitable objects

(I) TO ADVANCE THE RELIGION OF ISLAM IN THE LEWSEY FARM AND SURROUNDING AREAS IN PARTICULAR FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THROUGH THE HOLDING OF PRAYER MEETINGS AND CONGREGATIONAL WORSHIP, TALKS AND LECTURES, PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS AND PRODUCING AND/OR DISTRIBUTING LITERATURE ON ISLAM TO ENLIGHTEN OTHERS ABOUT MUSLIMS AND THE ISLAMIC FAITH; (II) TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF LEWSEY FARM AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABLEMENT, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES OR FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITION OF LIFE OF THE SAID INHABITANTS WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE ISLAMIC FAITH; (III) TO ADVANCE IN LIFE AND RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH ISLAMIC INSTRUCTION BY: (A) THE PROVISION OF RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES PROVIDED IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE; AND (B) PROVIDING SUPPORT AND ACTIVITIES WHICH DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS.
