1 TO APPLY THE FUNDS RECEIVED BY WAY OF THE ANNUAL MAYOR'S APPEAL OF DURHAM CITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF ANY REGISTERED CHARITY OR CHARITIES AS SHALL BE SELECTED BY THE MAYOR OF DURHAM IN HIS OR HER YEAR OF OFFICE. 2 TO FURTHER SUCH EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR PERSONS OF ALL AGES WHO ARE IN NEED, LIVING WITHIN THE DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF DURHAM AND THE SURROUNDING AREA AS DIRECTED BY THE CURRENT OR PAST MAYOR OF DURHAM, BY THE DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS COLLECTED DURING THEIR TERM OF OFFICE.
