The Trust supports initiatives focusing on the environment, geology and education. We engage with the local community and enhance exisiting projects as well as supporting new work. A main focus of the Trust work is the development of the Old Engine Shed into a Visitor/interpretation centre.

Charitable objects
1) TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN PORTLAND, DORSET AND THE COUNTY OF DORSET IN GENERAL, THE CONSERVATION PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. 2) TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. (A) IN THE CONSERVATION PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT; AND (B) IN THE SUBJECTS OF GEOLOGY, HISTORY AND THE ENVIRONMENT OF PORTLAND AND THE JURASSIC COAST OF DORSET. 3) TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE INFIRMITY OR DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR SOCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE.
