3. THE CHARITY'S OBJECTS ARE:- TO RELIEVE SICKNESS AND TO PRESERVE THE HEALTH OF THE PATIENTS OF ROYAL MANCHESTER (PENDLEBURY) CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL ONCOLOGY UNIT, AND OTHER CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND BY PROVIDING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES, RECREATION AND SERVICES ANCILLARY TO THOSE PROVIDED BY THE DOCTORS, FOR INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS INCLUDING TEACHING SUPPORT AND TEACHING MATERIALS FOR CHILDREN WHO REQUIRE SCHOOLING WHILST IN HOSPITAL. (II) TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF SUFFERERS OF LIFE THREATENING DISEASES AND TERMINAL ILLNESS IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND THROUGH THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, SUPPORT, EDUCATION, PRACTICAL ADVICE AND COUNSELLING. (III) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND RELATING TO LIFE THREATENING DISEASES AND TERMINAL ILLNESS INCLUDING THE HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT THAT CAN BE FOUND THROUGH BETTER UNDERSTANDING, AND THROUGH THE SUCCESS STORIES OF SURVIVORS. (IV) TO RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AND SICKNESS AMONG PERSONS WHO ARE CARING FOR OR NURSING A PERSON WITH A LIFE THREATENING DISEASE OR TERMINAL ILLNESS IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND BY THE PROVISION OF TRAINING, ADVICE, COUNSELLING AND RESPITE . (V) TO RELIEVE THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL SICKNESS OF PERSONS RESIDENT IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND SUFFERING FROM BEREAVEMENT OR LOSS (RELATED TO LIFE THREATENING DISEASES AND TERMINAL ILLNESS) BY THE PROVISION OF COUNSELLING AND SUPPORT FOR SUCH PERSONS. (VI) THE RELIEF OF POOR CHILDREN (OR THEIR FAMILIES) SUFFERING FROM LIFE THREATENING DISEASES OR TERMINAL ILLNESS IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND EITHER GENERALLY OR INDIVIDUALLY THROUGH THE PROVISION OF GRANTS, GOODS OR SERVICES. (VII) TO PROVIDE RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITY IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR CHILDREN LIVING IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND SUFFERING FROM LIFE THREATENING DISEASES OR TERMINAL ILLNESS WHO HAVE NEED, WITH A VIEW TO IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE. (VIII) TO PROVIDE SUPPORT BY WAY OF ENCOURAGEMENT, ADVICE AND OR GRANTS TO CHILDREN IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND WITH SPECIAL ABILITIES, HOBBIES OR TALENTS WHICH THEY WISH TO CONTINUE DESPITE THEIR SUFFERING FROM A LIFE THREATENING DISEASE OR TERMINAL ILLNESS.
