The Saad Foundation continues to work with stakeholders and is represented on the Post Mortem Forensic Imaging Group which is a government led body working across the professional sector researching and determining the best use of forensic imaging technology in this area. SF is working closely with Igene in opening imaging centres nationally.

Charitable objects
THE RELIEF OF SUFFERING AMONGST BEREAVED MEMBERS OF THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY BY THE PROVISION OF SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE IN DEALING WITH THE SUDDEN DEATH PROCEDURE CONSISTENT WITH ISLAMIC PRINCIPLES, BUT NOT EXCLUDING BEREAVED MEMBERS OF OTHER RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES WHERE THE SUDDEN DEATH PROCEDURE, INCLUDING INVASIVE POST MORTEM PROCEDURES, IS CONTRARY TO THE TENETS OF THEIR BELIEF BY: = PROVIDING INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE WHEN DEALING WITH OFFICIAL BODIES SUCH AS THE CORONER'S OFFICE, POLICE, GPS AND HOSPITALS; = PROVIDING KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION IN RESPECT OF THE SUDDEN DEATH PROCEDURE AND HELP IN REPATRIATION OF THE DECEASED'S BODY TO THE FAMILY AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE ENSURING THEIR DIGNITY, RESPECT AND RELIGIOUS BELIEFS; = PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO BEREAVED FAMILIES, THOUGH DEBATE WITH THE CORONER'S OFFICE, IN ENSURING INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES ARE SENSITIVE TO ISLAMIC PRINCIPLES AND ARE PROPORTIONATE AND NECESSARY; = PROMOTING THE USE OF LESS INTRUSIVE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS MRI SCAN FACILITIES TO ASCERTAIN A CAUSE OF DEATH IN THE FIRST INSTANCE BEFORE RESORT TO FULL POST MORTEM PROCEDURE; = EDUCATING AND RAISING AWARENESS AMONGST PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATION AND THE PUBLIC IN RESPECT OF ISLAMIC BELIEFS PARTICULARLY AND SENSITIVITIES REGARDING POST MORTEM PROCEDURES AND THE AVAILABILITY OF ALTERNATIVE LESS INTRUSIVE TECHNIQUES AVAILABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF DEATH; = THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO BEREAVED FAMILIES ENABLING THEM TO ACCESS SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF LESS INTRUSIVE PROCEDURES TO DETERMINE A CAUSE OF DEATH WHERE THE PROVISION OF THAT ASSISTANCE WILL RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, CONSISTENT WITH THE LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CORONER AND THE LAW WITHIN THE UK. DEFINITION: SUDDEN DEATH PROCEDURE MEANS ANY DEATH THAT IS UNEXPECTED, AND UNEXPLAINED WHICH REQUIRES ENQUIRY AND INVESTIGATION BY THE CORONER'S OFFICE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF DEATH
