Charitable objects
THE CHARITY'S OBJECTS ("OBJECTS") ARE SPECIFICALLY RESTRICTED TO BEING A NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION WHOSE MAIN PURPOSE IS TO CONDUCT AND SUPPORT PROJECTS DIRECTED TO THE PREVENTION AND/OR CORRECTION OF REFRACTIVE ERROR IN EYES AS A CAUSE OF AVOIDABLE VISION LOSS AND BLINDNESS AND, WITHOUT LIMITATION, TO: (A) DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PROGRAMMES FOR THE ELIMINATION OF AVOIDABLE BLINDNESS AND IMPAIRED VISION DUE TO UNCORRECTED REFRACTIVE ERROR IN EYES; (B) PROMOTE AND ADVOCATE FOR THE ELIMINATION OF UNCORRECTED REFRACTIVE ERROR OF THE EYE, SUCH AS MYOPIA, PRESBYOPIA, HYPEROPIA AND ASTIGMATISM, AS A CAUSE OF AVOIDABLE VISION LOSS BY THE YEAR 2020; (C) ASSIST PERSONS WITH PERMANENT LOW VISION OR PERMANENT VISUAL IMPAIRMENT THROUGH THE PROVISION OF CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES IN COMMUNITIES AND AREAS WHERE SUCH CONDITIONS ARE PREVALENT INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, TO HELP THOSE WITH PERMANENT VISUAL IMPAIRMENT BY SUPPORTING VISION 2020; (D) WORK WITH COLLABORATORS TO DEVELOP SYSTEMS FOR THE SUPPLY OF AFFORDABLE SPECTACLES AND OTHER VISUAL AIDS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF EYE-CARE AND EYECARE SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF THE DELIVERY OF SUCH VISUAL AIDS; (E) BRING TOGETHER OPTOMETRY AND RELATED GROUPS, AND VISION 2020 PARTNERS IN ORDER TO ORGANISE AND CO-ORDINATE CARE AND SUPPORT PROGRAMMES; (F) LIAISE WITH ASSOCIATIONS REPRESENTING OPTOMETRISTS, OPTOMETRISTS, THEIR STAFF AND THEIR PATIENTS AND OPTICAL OUTLETS AND THEIR STAFF, CUSTOMERS AND CLIENTS FOR ELIMINATION OF AVOIDABLE BLINDNESS AND IMPAIRED VISION DUE TO UNCORRECTED REFRACTIVE ERROR AND TO HELP THOSE WITH PERMANENT VISUAL IMPAIRMENT THROUGH THE PROVISION OF SERVICES AIMED AT PREVENTING OR CONTROLLING SUCH CONDITIONS; (G) PREPARE COMMUNITY EDUCATION INFORMATION MATERIALS SPECIFIC TO PREVENTABLE EYE DISEASES SUCH AS REFRACTIVE EYE ERROR AND DISTRIBUTE THE SAME TO GOVERNMENTS, INSTITUTIONS AND PERSONS INVOLVED IN THE PREVENTION OR CONTROL OF SUCH CONDITIONS; (H) PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE SUPPORT, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES AND VISION CARE AND OPTICAL APPLIANCES TO DISADVANTAGED PERSONS IN COMMUNITIES IN GREATEST NEED; (I) EDUCATE THE PROFESSIONS AND THE PUBLIC ON ANY MATTERS RELATED TO OGS AND ITS OBJECTIVES; (J) WORK WITH LOCAL COLLABORATORS TO FUND EYE CARE SERVICES IN AREAS WHERE THE PREVALENCE OF PREVENTABLE EYE CONDITIONS IS UNNECESSARILY HIGH; (K) ESTABLISH ENTITIES AS MAY BE APPROPRIATE IN EACH COUNTRY WHERE OGS MAY OPERATE DUE TO THE PREVALENCE OF PREVENTABLE REFRACTIVE ERROR OF THE EYE, PERMANENT OR CORRECTABLE LOW VISION IMPAIRMENT AND OTHER VISION-CARE RELATED DEFICIENCIES; (L) PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PROGRAMS THAT CREATE CAPACITY IN COUNTRIES, REGIONS AND COMMUNITIES IN NEED OF REFRACTIVE AND OTHER VISION CARE INCLUDING LOW VISION CARE ESPECIALLY AT THE PRIMARY, SECONDARY AND TERTIARY LEVELS OF EDUCATION THROUGH ADVOCACY AND INITIATION OF EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR EYE-CARE EDUCATORS, PRACTITIONERS AND PROVIDERS; (M) RAISE FUNDS FROM THE PUBLIC GENERALLY AND FROM INDUSTRY IN PARTICULAR FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND OPERATION OF OGS AND TO MEET THE ORGANISATIONAL, OPERATIONAL, FUND-RAISING, MARKETING AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION COSTS RELATED TO THE ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY OGS; (N) ESTABLISH SYSTEMS AND ARRANGEMENTS TO MANAGE FUNDS RELATED TO OGS IN THE MANNER SET OUT IN THESE RULES; (O) UNDERTAKE ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES WHICH ADVANCE THE AIMS AND OBJECTS OF THE COMPANY AS DECIDED BY THE BOARD, PROVIDED SUCH ACTIVITIES AND UNDERTAKINGS ARE CONSISTENT WITH AND IN SUPPORT OF THOSE PURPOSES SPECIFIED AT PARAGRAPHS (A) TO (N); AND (P) DO ALL SUCH OTHER LAWFUL THINGS AS MAY BE INCIDENTAL OR CONDUCIVE TO THE ATTAINMENT OF THE ABOVE OBJECTS.
