THE RELIEF OF RESIDENTS IN HEREFORDSHIRE AND THE MARCHES WHO, BECAUSE OF MENTAL OR PHYSICAL ILL HEALTH; SOCIAL OR ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES, OR DISABILITY, ARE SUFFERING FROM PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS AND/OR DISORDER, THROUGH: 1 THE PROVISION OF A LOCALLY BASED, CONFIDENTIAL, RELIABLE AND AFFORDABLE COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICE, WITH A FAST AND SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM REFERRAL TO ASSESSMENT AND ALLOCATED COUNSELLOR 2 THE PROVISION OF A SIGN-POSTING SERVICE TO LOCAL AGENCIES, STATUTORY, VOLUNTARY OR PRIVATE, FOR THOSE WHO COME FOR ASSESSMENT, BUT FOR WHOM COUNSELLING IS INAPPROPRIATE 3 THE PROVISION OF A SUPPORTIVE AND EDUCATIVE WORKING ENVIRONMENT FOR COUNSELLORS TO RAISE AND MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AND THEREBY BENEFIT THE RECIPIENTS OF THERAPY 4 AND TO FURTHER BENEFIT THE WELL-BEING OF THOSE NEEDING PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT THROUGH WORKING AGAINST THE STIGMA OF MENTAL ILLNESS AND DISTRESS BY EDUCATION AND AWARENESS RAISING WITHIN THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
