RECOGNISE THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL HELPERS WHO ASSISTED ALLIED SERVICE PERSONNEL AND OTHERS WHO HAD EVADED CAPTURE OR ESCAPED FROM CAPTURE AND GUIDE THEM BACK TO FREEDOM. PROVIDE RELIEF FOR HELPERS WHO ARE NOW IN NEED THEMSELVES. PROMOTE HUMANITY AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING.

Charitable objects
(1) TO PROMOTE GOOD CITIZENSHIP AND THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY OF THE WW2 ESCAPE LINES, THROUGH EDUCATIONAL AND REMEMBRANCE ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING: • THE MAINTENANCE AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION HELD IN THE COLLECTIVE ARCHIVES OF ELMS MEMBERS; • TALKS AND VISITS TO SCHOOLS AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS; AND • THE STAGING OF REMEMBRANCE SERVICES AND COMMEMORATIVE TUTORIAL WALKS (WALKING MEMORIALS) ALONG ESCAPE LINE ROUTES. (2) THE RELIEF AND ASSISTANCE OF ANY PERSONS WHO ASSISTED MEMBERS OF THE ALLIED ARMED FORCES TO ESCAPE OR AVOID CAPTURE FROM ENEMY ARMED FORCES IN WW2 WHO ARE NOW IN NEED THEMSELVES THROUGH POVERTY, DISABILITY, SICKNESS OR OTHERWISE SUFFERING FROM ILL HEALTH AS A RESULT OF THEIR WARTIME ACTIVITIES.
