The Centre of Excellence for Sensory Impairment -COESI- works with voluntary sector organisations around the country that provide services and support for people with sensory loss and on projects to address gaps in provision. COESI also provides a helpline and support to its member organisations for central services and making funding applications.

THE CHARITY’S OBJECTS ARE THE RELIEF OF PEOPLE WITH SENSORY AND/OR PHYSICAL OR MENTAL IMPAIRMENT OR DISABILITY, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY:(A)OFFERING INDEPENDENT SUPPORT SERVICES, INCLUDING INFORMATION, REHABILITATION, COUNSELLING, ADVICE AND ADVOCACY SERVICES TO PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH DAILY LIVING ACTIVITIES BECAUSE OF A SENSORY AND/OR PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENT.(B)WORKING WITH AND SUPPORTING PEOPLE OF ALL AGES WITH SENSORY, PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, EMOTIONAL AND/OR NEUROLOGICAL NEEDS, INCLUDING THOSE WHO ARE MENTALLY ILL OR WHO HAVE A LEARNING DISABILITY.(C)PROVIDING INFORMATION AND ADVICE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS, CARERS, AND HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PROFESSIONALS. (D)PROVIDING INFORMATION AND A DEMONSTRATION FACILITY FOR SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH SENSORY AND PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS.(E)RAISING AWARENESS FOR STAFF, VOLUNTEERS AND THE PUBLIC OF DISABILITY ISSUES. (F)PROVIDING ACCESS TO INFORMATION, OUTREACH SERVICES AND MEETING PLACES FOR SOCIAL, EDUCATION AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES.(G)CAMPAIGNING FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN ALL RELEVANT SERVICE AREAS TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES WITH SENSORY IMPAIRMENTS AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES.
