Charitable objects
“The objects of the CIO are: (1) the advancement of the Roman Catholic religion through the religious and other charitable work of the English District as the charity trustees with the approval of the District Delegate shall from time to time think fit; and (2) if at any time the English District shall cease to exist then for the advancement of the Roman Catholic religion through the religious and other charitable work of the Congregation as the charity trustees with the approval of the Superior General shall from time to time think fit; and (3) if at any time the Congregation shall cease to exist then for the advancement of the Roman Catholic religion through such other lawful charitable purposes as the charity trustees shall determine. Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for purposes which are not charitable.” “English District means the District of England of the Congregation or any division of the Congregation which for the time being consists of or includes the houses of the Congregation that are situated in England, in either case which is established in accordance with the Constitutions.” “District Delegate means the person for the time being holding the office of Delegate from the District of England in accordance with the Constitutions and during any vacancy in such office or when the person holding such office is unable to carry out any of the functions thereof includes the person or persons who under the Constitutions is or are for the time being entitled to carry out such functions and in the absence of any such person or in the event of such office ceasing to exist the Superior General.”
