Charitable objects
THE GAMBIA VOLUNTEERS OBJECTS ARE TO PROMOTE VOLUNTEERING IN THE UK AND IN THE GAMBIA FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT WHERE TO DO SO FURTHERS A CHARITABLE PURPOSE OR PURPOSES SET OUT IN S. 3 OF THE CHARITIES ACT 2011 OR ANY OTHER STATUTORY ENACTMENT IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: 1.UNDERTAKING VOLUNTARY WORK WHERE TO DO SO ADVANCES EDUCATION, PROMOTES THE PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT, FURTHERS CHARITABLE PURPOSES THAT ARE BENEFICIAL TO THE COMMUNITY AND RELIEVE THOSE WITH A CHARITABLE NEED; 2.PROMOTING COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING TO ASSIST THE ELDERLY WITH A CHARITABLE NEED IN THE COMMUNITY; 3.PROVIDING A FREE VOLUNTARY SERVICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC ESPECIALLY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE ATTENDING RURAL COMMUNITY SCHOOLS; 4.BUILDING AND RENOVATING NURSERY SCHOOLS IN PARTICULAR IN THE GAMBIA AND TO GIVE GAMBIAN CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND SCHOOL THROUGH SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMMES WHICH PROVIDE THE CHILD WITH NECESSARY SCHOOL FEES AND UNIFORMS; 5.PROVIDING SUPPORTIVE CARE INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE THE DAILY LIVES OF PEOPLE LIVING IN POVERTY IN POORER COMMUNITIES; 6.RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND PROVIDING RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES PROVIDED IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE, DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE; 7.ADVANCING IN LIFE YOUNG PEOPLE BY DEVELOPING THEIR SKILLS, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS INDEPENDENT, MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS; 8.PROVIDING AND MAINTAINING VILLAGE OR COMMUNITY HALLS BY USING VOLUNTEERS FOR THE USE OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE VILLAGE OR COMMUNITY WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS, INCLUDING USE FOR MEETINGS, LECTURES AND CLASSES AND FOR OTHER FORMS OF RECREATION AND LEISURE-TIME OCCUPATION, IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE INHABITANTS; AND BY 9.RECRUITING AND PROVIDING INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS TO CHARITIES AND CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS THAT FURTHER A CHARITABLE PURPOSE OR PURPOSES IN THE UK AND THE GAMBIA; 10.SUPPORTING AND SUPERVISING VOLUNTEERS WITHIN THEIR ROLE AND CARING FOR THEM DURING THEIR VOLUNTEERING AND AFTER VOLUNTEERING WHERE NECESSARY; 11.ADVERTISING AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE SURE THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME IS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL POTENTIAL VOLUNTEERS (OPEN TO ALL); 12.PROVIDING FREE ACCOMMODATION AND AIR TRAVEL TO VOLUNTEERS AT COMMUNITY PROJECTS FALLING WITHIN THE OBJECTS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT WHERE POSSIBLE; AND 13.ENSURING ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE DBS (OR EQUIVALENT) CHECKED FOR SAFEGUARDING PURPOSES BEFORE THEY VOLUNTEER WITH CHILDREN OR VULNERABLE YOUNG ADULTS.
