Charitable objects
1. TO PROMOTE THE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF CHARITIES IN THE DIRECT PURSUIT OF THEIR CHARITABLE OBJECTS AND THE EFFECTIVE USE OF THEIR RESOURCES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY PROVIDING LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT TO CHARITIES WORKING TOWARDS OR MEETING UNITED WAY MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED KINGDOM. 2. TO PROMOTE ANY CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AND IN PARTICULAR, THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION, THE PROTECTION OF HEALTH AND THE RELIEF OF POVERTY, DISTRESS AND SICKNESS. 3. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
