Charitable objects
THE PURPOSE OF THE CIO IS TO FURTHER THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION PRIMARILY IN THE UK BY PROVIDING DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN MAINSTREAM EDUCATION WITH OPPORTUNITIES THAT CAN MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE TO THEIR LIVES BY STRETCHING THEIR CAPABILITIES THROUGH EXPERIENCES THEY WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE MISSED.THE CIO WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE GIVING OF GRANTS,BURSARIES,EQUIPMENT OR OTHER ASSETS TO THOSE MEETING THE CRITERIA SET BY THE CHARITY TRUSTEES,EITHER DIRECTLY OR THROUGH AN INTERMEDIARY,SUCH AS A SCHOOL,ACADEMY,LOCAL AUTHORITY OR OTHER BODY,BY:(1)ADVANCING THE EDUCATION OF DISADVANTAGED PUPILS BY PROVIDING,AND/OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF,FACILITIES NOT REQUIRED TO BE PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY FOR EDUCATION AT A SCHOOL,ACADEMY OR OTHER RECOGNISED EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT TO ASSIST SUCH PUPILS IN MAXIMISING THEIR POTENTIAL;(2)ADVANCING THE EDUCATION OF GIFTED PUPILS BY PROVIDING,AND/OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF,FACILITIES NOT REQUIRED TO BE PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY FOR EDUCATION AT A SCHOOL,ACADEMY OR OTHER RECOGNISED EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT TO ASSIST SUCH PUPILS IN MAXIMISING THEIR POTENTIAL;(3)ADVANCING EDUCATION IN AREAS OF SOCIAL DEPRIVATION BY PROVIDING GRANTS TO ENABLE COMMUNITIES AND INDIVIDUALS TO ADVANCE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES IN THAT AREA;(4)ENCOURAGING THE EDUCATION(INCLUDING SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL TRAINING)OF INDIVIDUALS UP TO THE AGE OF 18 YEARS IN SUCH MANNER AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES THINK FIT,INCLUDING,BUT NOT LIMITED TO,BY WAY OF SUBSIDISING ANY TRAVEL EXPENSES IN FURTHERANCE OF EDUCATION(INCLUDING THE STUDY OF MUSIC OR OTHER ARTS)OR EXPENSES IN RELATION TO THE PREPARATION FOR ENTRY TO ANY OCCUPATION,TRADE OR PROFESSION ON LEAVING ANY EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT;AND(5)ASSISTING IN SUCH WAYS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES THINK FIT ANY CHARITY IN THE WORLD WHOSE AIMS INCLUDE ADVANCING EDUCATION OF PERSONS UP TO THE AGE OF 18 YEARS BY DEVELOPING THEIR MENTAL,PHYSICAL AND MORAL CAPABILITIES THROUGH LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES.
