The purpose of the museum is to maintain a base for the public benefit for the exhibition of local antiques and other objects of interest for the benefit and use of the inhabitants of and visitors to Billericay and the surrounding area. The museum's aim is to foster within the community an appreciation and understanding of local history and the town's heritage.
