Every year Muktangan trains more than 250 local members of the community as school teachers and provides high quality child-centred English medium education to more than 2000 children in Mumbai. Muktangan currently works in 7 Municipal Schools and this number is ever growing. Muktangan Educational Trust raises money in the UK to support the work of Muktangan Schools in India.

Charitable objects
I. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS IN THE MUKTANGAN SCHOOLS IN INDIA. THROUGH THE PROVISION OF INCLUSIVE AND OPEN, CHILD-CENTRED EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES (NOT PROVIDED BY OR REQUIRED TO BE PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY) TO PUPILS FROM ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED BACKGROUNDS - THE CHARITY OPERATES FOR PUBLIC BENEFIT BY EDUCATING CHILDREN IN THE ACQUISITION OF LITERACY, NUMERACY AND CITIZENSHIP SKILLS. II. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE EDUCATION OF ADULTS BY PROVIDING TRAINING FOR WOMEN AND MEN FROM ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED BACKGROUNDS TO BECOME TEACHERS. THROUGH THE PROVISION OF PROFESSIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL SKILLS, PUBLIC BENEFIT WILL BE SERVED BY THE CREATION OF TEACHERS WHO WILL IN TURN BECOME EDUCATIONAL CHANGE AGENTS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. III. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE EDUCATIONAL SKILLS AND CAPACITIES OF THE COMMUNITIES WHERE THE MUKTANGAN SCHOOLS OPERATE IN INDIA. THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EDUCATION TO PARENTS AND CARERS IN THE AREAS OF HEALTH, HYGIENE, NUTRITION, CHILD-DEVELOPMENT AND PARENTING. THIS EDUCATION AND TRAINING SERVES THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY ASSISTING IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHANGE AND IMPROVEMENT IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
