Charitable objects
(1) TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT HUMAN RIGHTS (AS SET OUT IN THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS 1948 AND SUBSEQUENT UNITED NATIONS CONVENTIONS AND DECLARATIONS) WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF MINING THROUGHOUT THE WORLD BY ALL OR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MEANS: • MONITORING ABUSES OF HUMAN RIGHTS WITH REGARD TO MINING-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES; • RESEARCH INTO THE IMPACTS OF MINING ON HUMAN RIGHTS; • THE DISSEMINATION OF SUCH RESEARCH TO THE PUBLIC; • PROVIDING ADVICE TO GOVERNMENT AND OTHERS ON THE MINING INDUSTRY’S IMPACTS ON HUMAN RIGHTS; • COMMENTING ON PROPOSED LEGISLATION AND GOVERNMENT POLICY IN RELATION TO COMPANIES INVOLVED IN MINING AND MINING FINANCE IN RESPECT OF HUMAN RIGHTS; • RAISING AWARENESS OF THE IMPACTS OF MINING ON HUMAN RIGHTS; • PROMOTING PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR THE RIGHTS OF MINING-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES; • PROMOTING RESPECT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS BY MINING COMPANIES AND OTHER BODIES INVOLVED IN MINING; • INTERNATIONAL ADVOCACY IN RELATION TO MINING AND HUMAN RIGHTS; (2) TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (THAT IS, DEVELOPMENT WHICH MEETS THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OF FUTURE GENERATIONS TO MEET THEIR OWN NEEDS) IN SUCH MINING-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES BY MEANS OF THE PRESERVATION, CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND PRUDENT USE OF RESOURCES
