Activities - how the charity spends its money
ICA supports the residents and communities of Portland, Dorset to achieve maximum levels of mental, physical and social wellbeing. We do this through a range of activities, from services for older adults to learning and training opportunities for younger people. ICA represents the Island, and also provides support for other local groups and those wishing to volunteer or offer volunteer roles.

Charitable objects
The objects of the bureau are to promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community in the area of benefit (Portland and wider Dorset) by associating together volunteers, residents and organisations in a common effort to advance education, protect health, relieve poverty sickness and distress and in furtherance of these objects but not otherwise the bureau shall:? (a) Advise and support persons willing to volunteer. (b) Promote volunteering and community involvement and provide a central repository of opportunities. (c) Advise and support organisations which involve and are willing to involve volunteers in their charitable activities. (d) Support, advise and respond directly to needs of the local community through the provision of support, learning and leisure-based services and activities that help individuals reach maximum levels of psychological, physical and social wellbeing, remain independent and make the most of their lives. (e) Broker and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships, which provide ongoing support to local communities making possible the provision of above initiatives. (f) Secure appropriate levels of funding to create and maintain such initiatives.? (g) Work with and showcase local initiatives and activities that promote the local area (Portland and wider Dorset) and its community regionally, nationally and globally - where appropriate.? (h) work with local groups and organisations, to organise, facilitate and manage which enhance, empower and disseminate information that encourages self-awareness and learning within the community.?
