THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SUBJECTS OF ARCHAEOLOGY, HISTORY, HERITAGE, GEOLOGY AND THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN THE NEW FOREST PARTICULARLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY PROVIDING LECTURES, VISITS AND MEETINGS AND UNDERTAKING RESEARCH INTO THE HISTORY AND THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE NEW FOREST, BY EXCAVATION AND FIELD SURVEY, THE USEFUL RESULTS OF WHICH WILL BE DISSEMINATED FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT.
