Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: (1) THE ADVANCEMENT OF GOOD CITIZENSHIP AND CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. (2) THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION IN PARTICULAR BY PROVIDING TRAINING AND SUPPORT PROGRAMMES THAT PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP, PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LIFELONG LEARNING WITH THE AIM OF DEVELOPING AN INDIVIDUAL’S CAPABILITIES, CAPACITIES, SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING IN SUBJECTS OF EDUCATIONAL VALUE FOR THEIR BENEFIT SO THAT THEY MAY BECOME BETTER CITIZENS AND BETTER CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].
