Charitable objects
THE PURPOSES OF THE ORGANISATION ARE - 1) TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC LIBRARY IN RATBY, ENGLAND FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF RATBY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA OR COMMUNITIES. 2) TO PROVIDE, FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF RATBY, SURROUNDING AREA AND COMMUNITIES, A PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR THE RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES BY REASON OF AGE, GENDER, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE, INFIRMITY, DISABILITY OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES OR FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITION OF LIFE OF THE SAID RESIDENTS. 3) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN RATBY, LEICESTERSHIRE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA OR COMMUNITIES BY OPERATING AND MANAGING A LENDING LIBRARY. 4) TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF RATBY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA OR COMMUNITIES BY OPERATING A CAFETERIA, ENABLING INDIVIDUALS OF ALL CIRCUMSTANCES TO MEET AND SOCIALISE; PROVIDING A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL, INCLUDING THOSE WHO FEEL THEMSELVES TO BE OR ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND THEREBY IMPROVING THE LIVES AND WELL-BEING OF ALL RESIDENTS OF RATBY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA OR COMMUNITIES. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE "SOCIALLY EXCLUDED" MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF ONE OF MORE OF THE FOLLOWING FACTORS: UNEMPLOYMENT; FINANCIAL HARDSHIP; YOUTH OR OLD AGE; ILL HEALTH (PHYSICAL OR MENTAL); SUBSTANCE ABUSE OR DEPENDENCY INCLUDING ALCOHOL AND DRUGS; DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF SEX, RACE, DISABILITY, ETHNIC ORIGIN, RELIGION, BELIEF, CREED, SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR GENDER RE-ASSIGNMENT; POOR EDUCATIONAL OR SKILLS ATTAINMENT; RELATIONSHIP AND FAMILY BREAKDOWN; POOR HOUSING (THAT IS HOUSING THAT DOES NOT MEET BASIC HABITABLE STANDARDS); AND CRIME (EITHER AS A VICTIM OF CRIME OR AS AN OFFENDER REHABILITATING INTO SOCIETY).
