Hive provides information services, resources and network opportunities for voluntary and community sector groups in the Sudbury and District area of Suffolk. It helps new community groups to grow and provides training for trustees, staff and volunteers within local organisations. It now owns a building (a former URC church) which it hires out to local groups.

THE PROMOTION OF THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SUDBURY AND DISTRICT AREA OF SUFFOLK BY: A) PROVIDING A SERVICE TO VULNERABLE ADULTS AND CHILDREN SUPPORTING THEM WITH THEIR HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE NEEDS; B) PROVIDING TRAINING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES TO LOCAL VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY GROUPS; C) PROVIDING INFORMATION SERVICES TO LOCAL GROUPS; D) PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL GROUPS TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER AGENCIES; AND E) OFFERING FUNDING OR FUNDING ADVICE TO HELP LOCAL GROUPS TO DEVELOP. (THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR’ MEANS CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS. CHARITIES ARE ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES. VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS ARE INDEPENDENT ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES THAT ADD VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, OR A SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION TO MAKE A PROFIT FOR PRIVATE DISTRIBUTION.
