Activities - how the charity spends its money
To make grants to full and part time musicians and staff who are employees of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and other individuals who have made a significant long term contribution to the BSO. The grants are to relieve hardship caused by sickness, accident or infirmity. Funds are raised from the net proceeds of an annual concert and general donations.

Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE THE PREVENTION OR RELIEF OF POVERTY OR FINANCIAL HARDSHIP FOR: THE BENEFIT OF INDIVIDUALS EMPLOYED UNDER CONTRACT, WHETHER FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME, WITH THE BOURNEMOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (THE “BSO”); OR THE BENEFIT OF INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE DEEMED BY THE TRUSTEES TO HAVE MADE A SIGNIFICANT LONG-TERM CONTRIBUTION TO THE BSO OR WHO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTORY ASSOCIATION WITH THE BSO; AND WHO ARE IN NECESSITOUS CIRCUMSTANCES BY REASON OF SICKNESS, ACCIDENT OR INFIRMITY AND IN SUCH AMOUNTS AND AT SUCH TIMES AND ON SUCH CONDITIONS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES SHALL IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION THINK FIT; OR FOR THE BENEFIT OF RETIRING INDIVIDUALS WHO BY REASON OF THEIR PREVIOUS MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOURNEMOUTH ORCHESTRAS RETIREMENT BENEFITS PLAN WILL RECEIVE A REDUCED PENSION OR ANNUITY AND ARE THEREFORE SUFFERING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP.?
