TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE AQUACULTURE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY THE RELIEF OF POVERTY AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE IN DEVELOPING AND TRANSITION COUNTRIES. SUSTAINABLE AQUACULTURE DEVELOPMENT MEANS "DEVELOPMENT THAT MEETS THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OF FUTURE GENERATIONS TO MEET THEIR OWN NEEDS. TRANSITION COUNTRIES MEANS "COUNTRIES WHICH ARE DEFINED AND ASSESSED BY UNITED NATIONS ORGANISATIONS,AGENCIES AND DEVELOPMENT BANKS. AQUACULTURE IS THE FARMING OF AQUATIC ORGANISMS, INCLUDING FISH, MOLLUSCS, CRUSTACEANS AND AQUATIC PLANTS.
