Charitable objects
3.1 THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE THE RELIEF OF POVERTY, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT BY THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE OF ALMSHOUSE ACCOMMODATION AND SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE ALMSHOUSES OF WHICH THE CHARITY IS A TRUSTEE AS THE TRUSTEES DECIDE. 3.2 RESIDENTS SHOULD BE PERSONS WHO ARE: 3.2.1 RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT AT THE TIME OF THEIR APPOINTMENT AND 3.2.2 PERSONS IN SUFFICIENT NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS AND REQUIRING URGENT SUPPORT, WITH A PREFERENCE BEING GIVEN TO PERSONS PRIMARILY WHO ARE RESIDENTS WITHIN THE PARISH OF WINCHCOMBE AND SECONDLY TO RESIDENTS LIVING IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT PROVIDED ALWAYS IN THE EVENT THAT THERE ARE NO APPLICANTS FROM WITHIN THE AREA OF BENEFIT THE TRUSTEES MAY CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FROM PERSONS FROM A WIDER AREA PROVIDED THAT THEY SATISFY 3.2.2. 3.3 IN THIS CONSTITUTION THE EXPRESSION "AREA OF BENEFIT" SHALL MEAN THE BOROUGH OF TEWKESBURY INCLUDING THE TOWN OF WINCHCOMBE AND THE PARISHES (OR FORMER PARISHES) OF ALDERTON, BROCKHAMPTON, DIDBROOK, HAWLING, PRESCOTT STANLEY PONTLARGE, STANWAY, SUDELEY MANOR, COWLEY, COBERLEY, UP HATHERLEY, LECKHAMPTON, PRESTBURY, SWINDON, CUTSDEAN, TEMPLE GUITING, TODDINGTON, GUITING POWER AND SEVENHAMPTON IN THE COUNTY OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE.
