Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 3. TO FURTHER SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES (CHARITABLE UNDER ENGLISH LAW) AS THE TRUSTEES SEE FIT FROM TIME TO TIME IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY: 3.1. THE PREVENT OR RELIEF OF POVERTY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. 3.2. THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT WITH THE AIM TO INCREASE INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE KNOWLEDGE; PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF SPECIFIC AREAS OF USEFUL STUDY, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE; AND PROMOTE OR SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH (THE USEFUL RESULTS OF WHICH WILL BE DISSEMINATED FOR BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC). 3.3. THE ADVANCEMENT OF HEALTH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR BY RELIEVING THE SICK AND BY PROMOTING GOOD HEALTH AND WELLBEING. 3.4. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE ARTS, HERITAGE AND CULTURE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. 3.5. THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR BY SUPPORTING THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF DISABILITY, AGE, SEX OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. 3.6. THE RELIEF OF THOSE IN NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008]
