Charitable objects
THE PURPOSE OF THE CIO IS TO ADDRESS THE MANIFEST AND MANIFOLD ISSUES OF EXCLUSION SUFFERED BY THE LATIN COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHWARK, LAMBETH, LEWISHAM AND SURROUNDING AREAS. OBJECTIVES THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: TO PROMOTE GOOD HEALTH, RELIEF OF SICKNESS, POVERTY AND DISTRESS AND ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION OF SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE SPEAKING COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHWARK AND SURROUNDING AREAS, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: PROVIDING COUNSELING, ADVICE AND ADVOCACY ON ISSUES INCLUDING LEGAL MATTERS, IMMIGRATION, ISOLATION, EXPLOITATION, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND UNEMPLOYMENT PROVIDING WORKSHOPS AND OUTREACH EVENTS TO COMMUNICATE INFORMATION ON SPECIFIC ISSUES (EG. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE) TO SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE SPEAKING COMMUNITIES TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY WORKING WITH PEOPLE FROM THE SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE SPEAKING COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHWARK AND SURROUNDING AREAS WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED ON THE GROUNDS OF THEIR ETHNIC ORIGIN, TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF SUCH PEOPLE AND TO ASSIST THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY, BY: PROVIDING INFORMATION AND ADVICE THROUGH COUNSELING, WORKSHOPS, OUTREACH EVENTS, ADVOCACY, TO SUPPORT MEMBERS OF SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE SPEAKING COMMUNITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO MAXIMIZE LIFE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE ISSUES AFFECTING SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE SPEAKING COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHWARK AND SURROUNDING AREAS, BOTH GENERALLY AND IN RELATION TO THEIR SOCIAL EXCLUSION.
