The object of ASEASUK is to develop knowledge within the UK of Southeast Asia (SEA) for the public benefit. Its activities include facilitating cooperation between UK-based scholars, institutions and research programmes in SEA studies and with appropriate counterparts in other countries in order to advance individual and collective knowledge of SEA, and circulating scholarly information on SEA.

THE OVERALL OBJECT OF ASEASUK IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC ON THE SUBJECT OF SOUTHEAST ASIA AND TO PROMOTE RESEARCH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN ALL DISCIPLINES OF THAT SUBJECT AND TO DISSEMINATE THE USEFUL RESULTS BY SUCH MEANS AS THE TRUSTEES SEE FIT. *“SOUTHEAST ASIA” INCLUDES THE COUNTRIES OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, CAMBODIA, INDONESIA, LAOS, MALAYSIA, MYANMAR, THE PHILIPPINES, SINGAPORE, THAILAND, TIMOR-LESTE, VIETNAM.
