TO PROMOTE THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF TAMESIDE, GLOSSOP AND OLDHAM AND SURROUNDING AREAS (HEREINAFTER CALLED THE 'AREA OF BENEFIT') WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS, BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID INHABITANTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO RELIEVE AND PREVENT SUFFERING CAUSED BY MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ILL HEALTH OR BY SOCIAL OR ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE BY ESTABLISHING, MAINTAINING AND DEVELOPING A COUNSELLING SERVICE IN TAMESIDE, GLOSSOP, OLDHAM AND SURROUNDING AREAS FOR THE GIVING OF INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP COUNSELLING AND PRACTICAL ADVICE.
