Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: (1) TO ACT AS A RESOURCE FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING IN BRIDPORT, DORSET (THE “AREA OF BENEFIT”) BY PROVIDING THEM WITH A MEETING AND ACTIVITY SPACE, ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE WHERE THEY ARE IN NEED OF IT AND BY ORGANISING PROGRAMMES OF PHYSICAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND OTHER ACTIVITIES AS A MEANS OF: (A) ADVANCING THEM IN LIFE, RELIEVING THEIR NEEDS AND BY HELPING THEM DEVELOP THEIR LIFE SKILLS, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES SO THAT THEY CAN BETTER PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AN INDEPENDENT, MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS; (B) ADVANCING THEIR EDUCATION; AND (C) PREVENTING THEM FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED DUE TO THEIR AGE, ECONOMIC OR SOCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES ALL WITH THE AIM OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE. (2) TO FURTHER OR BENEFIT THE RESIDENTS OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID RESIDENTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE A FACILITY (THE BRIDPORT YOUTH AND COMMUNITY CENTRE) IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATIONS WITH THE AIM OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE.
