THE OBJECT OF THE SOCIETY IS THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION BY PROMOTING, SUSTAINING AND INCREASING INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF EARTH AND PLANETARY SCIENCES AMONG THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND STUDENTS. FURTHER, IN ADDITION TO OUTREACH EDUCATION PROVIDED TO LOCAL SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY GROUPS AND THE HIGHER EDUCATION SECTOR, IT SUPPORTS THE WORK OF OXFORD UNIVERSITY BY PROVIDING BURSARIES, PRIZES AND FIELD EQUIPMENT TO EARTH SCIENCE UNDERGRADUATES OF THE UNIVERSITY. IT HAS ONLINE CONTENT, AVAILABLE TO A WORLD-WIDE AUDIENCE, ACCESSED VIA ITS WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS.
