Charitable objects
THE CHARITY’S OBJECTS (‘THE OBJECTS’) ARE THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN EASTBOURNE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY:- (A) IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, PROMOTING AND STAGING AN ANNUAL LGBT FESTIVAL AND EVENTS TO PROMOTE EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY; (B) CULTIVATING A SENTIMENT IN FAVOUR OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY IN PARTICULAR THROUGH CELEBRATING THE DIVERSITY OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT; (C) UNITING THE LGBT COMMUNITY, TOGETHER WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS, SO THEY CAN FEEL SAFE, WELCOMED AND PROUD TO BE THEMSELVES AT EVENTS; (D) ADVANCING EDUCATION AND RAISING GENERAL AWARENESS AMONG THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE ISSUES AND CHALLENGES FACING THE LIVES OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT; LGBT STANDS FOR LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER PEOPLE, AND REFERS TO SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND GENDER RE-ASSIGNMENT, BOTH PROTECTED CHARACTERISTICS UNDER THE EQUALITY ACT 2010 (HTTP://WWW.HOMEOFFICE.GOV.UK/EQUALITIES/EQUALITY-ACT/).[NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CHARITY FOR PURPOSES, WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND/OR SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
