1. TO FURTHER OR BENEFIT THE RESIDENTS OF TOTTINGTON AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD, WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPTIONS BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID RESIDENTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATIONS WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS. 2. TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN TOTTINGTON, GREATER MANCHESTER, AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY THE PROVISION OF A LENDING LIBRARY.
