The UK Friends of Cape Town Opera exists to raise funds, in accordance with its charitable objectives, for Cape Town Opera's youth development and education programme which provides opportunities for participation in opera in South Africa particularly among communities which are socially and economically disadvantaged. The UK Trust independently evaluates all support sent to Cape Town Opera

Charitable objects
THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE ART OF OPERA FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY: 1. ADVANCING EDUCATION, UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF OPERA IN SOUTH AFRICA AND INTERNATIONALLY BY SUPPORTING THE WORK OF CAPE TOWN OPERA IN SUCH A MANNER AS SHALL BE EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES. 2. SUPPORTING CAPE TOWN OPERA IN PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATION IN OPERA IN SOUTH AFRICA, PARTICULARLY AMONGST COMMUNITIES WHICH ARE SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED, IN SUCH WAYS AS SHALL BE EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES
